Eric Wicks
Assistant Coach (Def. Secondary/Safeties)

Eric Wicks, an All-Big East performer at West Virginia from 2004-07, joined the Bison coaching staff in the spring of 2013. After coaching the Bucknell cornerbacks in his first four seasons, he will oversee the entire defensive secondary with a focus on the safeties starting in 2017.

In Wicks’s final season overseeing the cornerbacks, sophomore Bryan Marine became the first Bison cornerback to earn All-Patriot League honors since All-American Bryce Robertson in 2011. Marine, who totaled 54 tackles, also registered 13 pass breakups, the most by a Bucknell player since 2004.

A three-time All-Big East defensive back, Wicks was a three-year starter with the Mountaineers and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks following his playing days at West Virginia. One of the leaders of the Mountaineers’ defense, he helped the squad rank seventh nationally in total defense his senior season (2007).

Wicks joined the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh in 2010. He spent two years focusing his efforts on video, special teams and outside linebackers. In 2012, he expanded his role and assisted with the linebackers and defensive backs while also having a hand in recruiting.

Wicks earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia in 2007.
