John Field, a 1999 graduate of Texas Lutheran, is in his ninth year as the football strength and conditioning coach at Bucknell. During the 2009 season he performed duties as a defensive assistant coach as well.
Field launched a successful offseason training regimen for the Bison and has encouraged many Bison players to stay on campus and train during the summer in each of his years at Bucknell.
Field is well-traveled in Patriot League circles, having served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Colgate in 2007 and completing a summer internship at Holy Cross in 2004. In 2004-05, Field was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Springfield College while pursuing his master’s degree in applied exercise science.
Prior to his strength and conditioning experience at the college level, Field spent 11 years as an assistant high school football coach and head strength and conditioning coach at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas.
Field is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Field and his wife, Deborah, have two children (Erin and Sean), and reside in Lewisburg.
