Dan Isaf was named Bucknell’s associate athletic director for NCAA compliance and student services in November 2013. Isaf spent the previous eight years working in the NCAA compliance office at Syracuse University after starting out in the legal profession.
Isaf earned his bachelor’s degree in 1992 from Hartwick College, where he was a standout student-athlete on the Hawks’ men’s lacrosse team. As a senior he shattered school records for points (85) and assists (70) in a season, and he also graduated as the program’s career assist leader with 108. Isaf then graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 1998. After seven years working at law firms in New York, Illinois and Massachusetts, he returned to the realm of college athletics as a compliance assistant at Syracuse.
Isaf worked his way up from compliance assistant to compliance coordinator to his most recent role as assistant director of compliance. In that post, Isaf was charged with monitoring all aspects of Syracuse’s recruiting efforts. He prepared and submitted waivers and violation reports to the Big East and NCAA offices; he conducted rules education seminars with student-athletes, coaches, staff and community and booster groups; and he oversaw Syracuse’s intern and extern program.
Among his many duties at Bucknell, Isaf is responsible for the management and operations of the department of athletics’ compliance and rules education program for coaches, student-athletes, departmental staff, boosters and university offices, and he coordinates and monitors the certification of student-athletes’ eligibility and financial aid. He also oversees the area of student services for the department.
