LEWISBURG, Pa. – Following a pair of victories over Howard and Navy, Bucknell men’s soccer freshman Nick King and senior Zack Rockmore earned Patriot League men’s soccer weekly honors, announced by the league on Monday. King was named Patriot League Men’s Soccer Midfielder and Rookie of the Week, while Rockmore earned PL Defensive Player of the Week honors. In addition, King was named 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week.

King posted multi-point outings in each of the wins. In the team’s 7-0 rout of the Bison, the freshman recorded a goal in the first half, while handing out a trio of assists, becoming the first player since Tommy McCabe in 2010 to record three or more assists in a contest.

The midfielder followed Tuesday’s game with another terrific effort in the team’s road victory in Annapolis. Trailing 1-0, King scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute, while setting up the game-winning goal in the final minute to give Bucknell its first victory at Navy since 2011.

King is having a strong year in his first season at Bucknell. He’s recorded four goals on the year, which is second on the team. King leads the team in assists (7), which ranks first in the Patriot League and ninth in the nation.

Rockmore helped the Bison earn its second shutout of the year in the victory over Howard. Bucknell held the Bison to three shots, holding them without an attempt until the 62nd minute.

In Saturday’s victory at Navy, Rockmore headed in the decisive goal in the final minute of play to give Bucknell the 2-1 victory and three points in the Patriot League standings. Rockmore is no stranger to game-winners, as he also recorded the go-ahead score in a victory over Sacred Heart.

Sebastiaan Blickman, last week’s Patriot League Men’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week, was an honorable mention following his performance against Howard. The senior recorded a pair of goals and an assist in the win. Blickman has recorded five goals in three games, as he leads the team in points (17) and goals (7) this season. His seven goals are the third-most in the Patriot League.

Bucknell (5-8-2, 2-2-1 PL) return to action Saturday (Oct. 22) to host preseason favorite American (7-4-3, 4-1-0 PL) homecoming weekend. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
