LEWISBURG, Pa. – After a strong performance Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge, Bucknell men’s track and field junior Nicholas Lombardo has been named Fifth Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week.

The Bison, competing in their first road meet of the year, faced some top-tier NCAA programs at the meet, including No. 15 Cornell, No. 20 Penn State, Connecticut, Central Connecticut, Maryland, Georgetown, Pittsburgh and Villanova.

Lombardo won the individual title in the high jump, posting an IC4A-qualifying leap of 6-10 ¾. The junior captain also competed in the long jump, finishing fourth of 14 with a jump of 22-10, now the second-best mark in the Patriot League.

Lombardo continues to excel during his tenure in a Bison uniform. The junior currently owns the school record in both the indoor and outdoor high jump (6-11), while owning top-10 program marks in the indoor and outdoor long jump.

Bucknell returns to action Saturday to host the Gulden Invitational, its third home meet of the year.
