John Bowes, who spent the previous five years as an assistant coach at William & Mary, joined the Bucknell staff prior to 2013 spring practice. He coached the Bison linebackers and special teams in his first year on staff before being named the special teams coordinator and safeties coach prior to 2014 spring practice.
A three-year starter at cornerback and safety at The Catholic University of America, Bowes started his tenure at William & Mary as a defensive assistant and special teams coordinator. He served in that role from 2008 to 2010 before being promoted to defensive backs coach and assistant special teams coordinator, a role he held for two seasons.
Responsible for recruiting areas in Northern Florida, Philadelphia, Delaware and Western Maryland, Bowes helped William & Mary to a 33-26 record and two NCAA appearances over his five-year stint with the Tribe.
A 2006 graduate of Catholic University with a degree in finance, Bowes got his start in coaching at his alma mater in 2006. He then spent a year as a graduate assistant at Clarion.
