The Bucknell Women’s Swimming and Diving Team is off to a great start of the season. Since the first day of practice, we have been increasing our training week by week, and have finally built up to our full practice schedule. This team came into the season ready to work and it has really shown in our performance at practice and at our first meet last weekend. We competed against UMBC as an unscored dual meet, coming away with 10 event wins and a lot of other very close races. This meet has always been a great starting point for us as we use it as a baseline of where we are in our training. It gives us the chance to assess what we need to do to improve throughout the rest of the season. We have a very busy couple of months coming up, having dual meets almost every weekend up until the end of the semester. This season we are competing against some familiar faces but we are also seeing some new ones such as Seton Hall and Richmond.
Our team has been working hard the past 6 weeks not only in regards to training but also on our team bonding and goal setting. We have made a great effort this season to take the time to get to know each other and ensure that everyone understands and appreciates the goals we have set as a team. For example, we have gone to CLIMBucknell, Sunset Rink, and Imperial Lanes. We have also held team events outside of practice like pancake breakfasts after morning practices and dinners at the Bison which we will continue to do throughout the season. We are happy to have had these opportunities as a team at the beginning of the season to get to know the first years better and be able to form a more cohesive group of women.
We are excited to see what the future holds for this team; especially with such a large and talented group of first-years. Both the men’s and women’s teams work hard in and out of the pool on an everyday basis and we are looking forward to our new competition this season! This past month our team has already shown significant improvement in our training and we expect great things to follow as we continue to compete this season! Go Bison!
