LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior point guard Stephen Brown was named Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday after reaching a major milestone and leading his team to a pair of victories. Brown averaged 21.0 points per game and did not commit a single turnover in 67 minutes of action in wins over Lafayette and Lehigh.

In last Monday’s 80-75 overtime win at Lafayette, Brown became the 42nd player in team history to record 1,000 career points. The shot that put him over that prestigious plateau was a big one. It broke a tie late in the overtime period and gave Bucknell the lead for good. He finished with 19 points in the game.

Later in the week Brown equaled his career high with 23 points in a 78-65 home win over Lehigh. He tallied 19 of his 25 points in the second half, helping the Bison stretch out a two-point halftime lead into a double-digit verdict.

Brown is now averaging 13.6 points per game on the year and 15.8 in Patriot League play. He has 87 assists and just 26 turnovers this season. His 3.35 assist-to-turnover ratio is 11th-best in the country.

Bucknell is 10-8 overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League heading into Monday night’s game at Colgate.
