POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Bucknell volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Saturday with two losses on the final day of Marist’s Volley in the Valley. The Bison fell 3-0 in their opening match to Bryant, and dropped a 3-1 decision to the host Red Foxes later in the day.
Despite the losses, Bucknell is still two wins over .500 at 5-3 on the season. The Bison are just two victories shy of their total from all of last season with 18 matches remaining on the schedule. The solid start comes while the team awaits the return of multiple starters that have missed the beginning of the season due to injuries.
Senior Karen Campbell was voted to the All-Tournament Team. She earned the recognition for the third straight tournament, including MVP honors last weekend at Sacred Heart.
“We had a good start, but today we struggled to find consistency as a team,” said Bucknell head coach Anna Allison. “We played two tough opponents that made us better and hungry to play again. We are ready to get back to work in Davis Gym and prepare for next weekend.”
After eight matches at three different tournaments to start the season, Bucknell will play at home in Davis Gym for the first time this year when it hosts the Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 18-19. The Bison will be joined at the event by Colgate, Providence and Delaware State. The match against Colgate will be an official Patriot League contest.
