WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell volleyball team fell in three sets on the road to Patriot League foe Army West Point on Saturday. The Black Knights, who are currently the second best team in the conference at 15-6 overall and 7-1 in league play, won with scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-17. The match is the first of two straight against the conference frontrunners for the Bison, who will play at American on Friday.

The Bison fell to 10-9 overall and 4-5 in the Patriot League. They had won three of their past four matches – all in league play – entering Saturday’s contest against the Black Knights.

Senior Karen Campbell had seven kills and a .375 hitting percentage for Bucknell. Senior Meghan Wentzel led the team in assists with 13, while freshman Blake Buchholz and sophomore Hailey Stout each had a team-high 11 digs. Buchholz and Campbell added three block assists apiece.

Vanessa Wesley guided Army West Point to victory with 14 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Carolyn Bockrath and Nicole Perri added 10 kills apiece.

Bucknell sits in fifth place in the Patriot League standings. The Bison are just one and a half games back of Lehigh for the final spot in the conference tournament. Seven matches remain on the schedule, including an Oct. 31 contest on the road against the Mountain Hawks.
