PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- John Edler and Connor O'Brien posted 4-over-par 76s to lead the Bucknell men's golf team on day one of the four-team Patriot Spring Intercollegiate at PGA National. The Bison started with a 311 team score to sit in third place with 18 holes still to come on Tuesday.

Navy took the tournament lead with a 302 composite, followed by Lehigh at 309, Bucknell at 311 and UMass Lowell at 323.

O'Brien was 2-under on his round with five holes left to play, but two bogeys and a quadruple-bogey 8 down the stretch sent him out of red numbers. O'Brien did make four birdies on the day. Edler had three birdies and nothing worse than bogey in his round of 76.

D.J. Magee made an eagle at the par-5 fifth hole, one of only two eagles on the day in the entire field. Magee carded a 78, followed by Jubal Early with an 81 and Ashton Radvansky with a 91.

The remainder of Bucknell's roster competed as individuals, with Zachary Melnick leading the way with a 76. Daniel Levin made three birdies in an even-par front nine before finishing with a 77. J.P. Raftery also scored in the 70s with a 78.

Navy's Connor Tallman had the round of the day with an even-par 72, highlighted by an eagle-3 on the 18th hole. Three players are two shots back. The three Bison who shot 76 are tied for seventh place.

The competition finishes up Tuesday morning at PGA National's Estate Course.
