LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Paced by a 1-over-par 72 from freshman J.P. Raftery, the Bucknell men's golf team posted a 297 team score Saturday in the first round of the Navy Spring Invitational at the USNA Golf Course. Bucknell is in sixth place out of 10 teams on a tightly bunched leaderboard.

Raftery had one of Bucknell's five scores of 77 or better on Saturday, coming from four freshmen and a sophomore. Raftery's 72 puts him in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings. Sophomore Daniel Levin followed with a 73, and rookies Connor O'Brien (75) and Jubal Early (77) also had counting scores. John Edler's 80 was discarded. Freshman Ashton Radvansky posted a 74 while playing as an individual.

Host Navy and Methodist are tied for the team lead after posting 1-over 285s in the first round. Wagner is third at 292, followed by St. John's (294), Saint Francis (295), Bucknell (297), Colgate (298), Navy B (302), Emory (302) and Lafayette (310). 

Connor Yakobov of Emory and Mason Stutler of Methodist share the individual lead at 3-under. Wagner's Lucas Moreno and Navy's Eric Terminello are one behind. 

The 36-hole tournament concludes on Sunday.
