LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Kate Scott posted a first-place finish Friday to lead the Bucknell women’s cross country team in its 2016 debut at the Bison Open on the West Fields.
The defending Patriot League champions picked up where they left off a season ago, dominating the three-mile course. Scott completed the course in 16:51, winning the race by 22 seconds over teammate Sarah Chandler.
The Orange and Blue ran well overall on Friday, taking the top 11 spots. Elizabeth Sheprow finished third in 17:30, followed by Jenna Farmer, Grace Loh, Colleen Buckley, Margaret Thomson, Lauren Hazzard, Brennan Sharkey, Kathleen Fitzgerald and Anna Chiodo-Ortiz to round out the top Bison finishers.
“It was a real nice rust buster for us,” said head coach Kevin Donner. “I now have some data on each athlete which gives me a gauge on where we are as a team. Overall, I was pleased. Kate looked very good and she has picked up where she left off last spring.”
Bucknell will be back in action Sept. 10 at the Detroit Titan Invitational in Northville, Michigan.
