ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Bucknell sophomore Max McDonald and freshman Colin Sacco teamed up for a win to advance to the semifinals of Flight C doubles as the Bison opened play at Navy’s Joe Hunt Invitational on Friday.

McDonald and Sacco entered the event as the second seed in the draw and received a bye in the opening round. They rolled through their quarterfinal opponents, St. Bonaventure’s Hristo Hristov and John Rutkowski, by a 6-1 score.

Mary Washington’s Derek Hagino and Nolan Perugini await McDonald and Sacco in the semifinals. The Eagles’ duo upset third-seeded Lucas Krusinski and Pavel Vrana on Friday.

In Flight A doubles, junior Daniel Wright and freshman Andrei Vitiuc won 6-3 over Temple’s Florian Mayer and Uladzimir Dorash in the first round. They then fell to top-seeded Julius Tverijonas and Chris Fletcher in the quarterfinals. Both Colonials players were All-Atlantic 10 selections last season.

Bucknell will have eight players competing when singles play begins on Saturday.
