BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s tennis team completed the doubles portion of the Lehigh Invitational with one team competing in each of the two draws. Senior Melissa Parks and sophomore Danielle Gannon went 1-1 while advancing to the semifinals in Flight 2, while junior Emilie Bush and freshman Paige Leavy posted a 2-1 record to win the consolation draw of Flight 1.
Parks and Gannon opened with an easy win, defeating Lafayette’s Gabby Montes and Haley Matthes 6-1. They fell to Lehigh’s Kirstin Godau and Leigh Friedman 6-2 in the semifinals. Friday marked the first doubles competition for Parks and Gannon as a team.
Bush and Leavy opened with a 6-3 loss in the first round, but bounced back with a pair of wins to win the consolation draw. They were 6-3 winners over Lafayette’s Rocine Moschella and Tori Almeida, and followed that with a 6-2 victory over Fordham’s Alexis Zobeideh and Destiny Grunin. Bush and Leavy improved to 4-2 on the year.
The Lehigh Invitational resumes with the start of the singles draws on Saturday at noon.
