BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Facing its second nationally ranked opponent this week, the Bucknell wrestling team lost to No. 12 Lehigh 33-7 Friday evening at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Freshman Garrett Hoffman and junior Tom Sleigh posted wins for the Bison.

The Mountain Hawks won the match’s first seven bouts before Hoffman earned his first collegiate win at 184 pounds. He posted a 7-4 decision against Kyle Gentile.

Sleigh, who is ranked 15th nationally, followed with the 59th victory of his career by posting a 13-2 major decision at 197 pounds. His victory came against Ben Haas.

Bucknell again had four freshmen in its lineup, while Lehigh (1-0, 1-0 EIWA) had six nationally ranked grapplers in its lineup compared to two for the Bison. Six of the Mountain Hawks’ eight victories were for bonus points.

Bucknell, which lost at No. 1 Oklahoma State this past Sunday, will be idle until next Saturday when it competes at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Maryland.
