UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Christine Bendzinski set the school record in the mile on Saturday on the final day of competition at the Penn State National Open at Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.

In the mile invite, Bendzinski finished fourth of 18 in the race with a time of 4:45.36, breaking the previous mark of 4:49.99 set by Caroline Tolli in 2013. Sarah Chandler finished eighth in the race, but her time of 4:50.04 is now the third-fastest performance in school annals.

Kaitlin Salisbury improved upon her top-10 program performance in the 200-meter. The freshman took ninth of 21 in the race, clocking in at 25.34, 0.23 faster than her previous best.

Grace Loh finished fifth in a field of 15 runners in the 3,000m with a time of 10:01.73, 10 seconds faster than her previous personal record.

Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s track and field team concluded action Saturday at the 19th-Annual Bison Open & Multi at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Natalie Waterhouse was the runner-up in the 500-meter in field of 26 runners, finishing in 1:18.88. Rebecca Rooney finished third, respectively, with a time of 1:19.27. Alexandra Koumas took eighth in 1:23.27, giving Bucknell three top-10 finishers in the race.

Gianna Mincone finished second in the 1,000m with a time of 3:05.33. Emma Dolen took fourth in the race, giving the Bison two top-five finishers.

Chelsea Reynolds placed third of 60 in the 400m with a time of 59.82. Anna Chiodo-Ortiz finished sixth of 54 in the mile with a time of 5:15.81, a new personal record.

In the finals of the 200m, Taylor Kennedy placed sixth with a time of 26.66. Lauren Hudson took fourth in a field of 31 participants in the high jump, recording a leap of 5-3 ¾.

Bucknell will hit the road for a pair of meets. A group will travel to Notre Dame to compete at the Meyo Invitational, while another will go to Youngstown to participate in the Youngstown State Invitational. Both meets are set for Feb. 3-4.
