PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team concluded play at Brown’s Bruno Classic on Sunday with an 8-1 loss to No. 23 Marist. Tegan Stanbach recorded the only goal for the Bison, who finished the opening weekend of the season with an 0-2 mark.
Bucknell, which defeated McKendree College 12-3 in an exhibition game on Saturday evening, scored its only goal in the first period. The Red Foxes scored the final five goals of the contest.
Manuela Herrera registered nine saves in cage for the Bison, who will host the Bison Invitational next weekend at Kinney Natatorium. Bucknell will play four games in three days, starting with an 8:15 p.m. matchup with Gannon on Friday.
Jocelyn McQuade and Amanda Amorosa led Marist with two goals apiece.
