LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team earned its first victory of the season on Friday with a 15-6 win over Gannon on the opening day of the Bison Invitational at Kinney Natatorium. Emily Konishi led the way for the Bison with four points.

After combining to score just eight goals in its first two contests, Bucknell’s offense got in a rhythm, scoring five times in each of the first two periods.

Nine different Bison scored in the match, while four handed out at least one assist. Tegan Stanbach, Shyla Lintz, Chelsea Scuderi, Katie Nedrow and Marta Considine each scored two goals apiece.

Manuela Herrera started in goal, recording seven saves in the win.

The Bison closed out the first half with four consecutive goals en route to the 15-6 victory.

Bucknell returns to action Saturday with contests against Mercyhurst (11:15 a.m.) and St. Francis Brooklyn (4:15 p.m.).
