LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team opened up the second day of competition at the Bison Invitational on Saturday with a 12-3 victory over in-state opponent Mercyhurst at Kinney Natatorium. Nine different Bison scored goals in the win.

Shyla Lintz, Nina Benson and Marta Considine recorded two goals each in the team’s second straight victory, while seven Bison handed out at least one assist, including Chelsea Scuderi, who posted a team-high of three.

After allowing two goals in the opening period, the Bison defense locked down, allowing just one score the rest of the way. Bucknell (2-2) led 7-2 at halftime and 10-3 after three periods. Nine different Bison tallied a steal in the match.

Manuela Herrera started the first three periods of the contest, recording six saves. Haley Derrod played the final period in cage, finishing with one save and a steal.

Bucknell concludes today’s action with a contest against St. Francis Brooklyn. Game time is slated for 4:15 p.m.
