ERIE, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team concluded play at the Mercyhurst Invitational on Sunday with a 14-11 win over Gannon.

Bucknell (6-4) opened the day with a 15-8 victory over VMI and kept that momentum going in the win over the Golden Knights. After dropping its first match of the weekend, the Bison have now won three straight games to finish 3-1.

Shyla Lintz recorded a game-high four goals, while Tegan Stanbach and Emily Konishi registered three goals apiece. Eight different Bison posted at least one assist.

Bucknell’s defense was stout through the first two periods, as the Bison led by a 10-2 margin at halftime. Konishi recorded a game-high five steals in the match.

Gannon rallied in the second half, outscoring the Bison 9-4 to close the gap, but were unable to complete the comeback as time expired.

Manuela Herrera and Haley Derrod each saw time in goal for Bucknell, combining to record six saves.

The Bison open league play on Feb. 25 when they host Hartwick at Kinney Natatorium. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
