ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Connor O'Hara tied his career high with four goals for Bucknell, but Navy used a 5-0 run covering the bulk of the second and third quarters to run past the Bison 13-7 on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. Bucknell fell to 2-3 on the season, 0-2 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen improved to 2-3, 1-1.

Will Sands recorded a goal and three assists, and Tommy O'Connor and Sean O'Brien also scored goals for the Bison. Christian Klipstein made 10 saves in goal. Grayson Torain and Chris Hill both scored four times for Navy, while Ryan Wade dished out five assists.

Sparked by a nice save from Klipstein in the opening seconds of the game, the Bison jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by O'Brien and O'Hara. Navy answered with four straight to take the lead for good and it was 5-3 after one period.

The Bison pulled within 5-4 on an O'Connor goal 1:13 into the second quarter, but that would be Bucknell's last goal until the 12:34 mark of the fourth quarter. In the meantime, the Midshipmen spaced out five straight goals to take a 10-5 lead.

Sands fed O'Hara to end the drought, but Navy added thre more in succession to end any thoughts of a Bison comeback.

Bucknell entered the game averaging 46 shots per contest but was held to 28 in this one, including just seven in the middle two periods as Navy had most of the possession. Navy led 31-28 in shots and 28-26 in ground balls, while the teams split 24 faceoffs.

With the victory, Navy broke an 8-8 tie in the all-time series. Bucknell had won five meetings in a row until the Midshipmen bounced back with victories in each of the last two seasons.

The Bison have dropped three straight, but they can take some solace in the fact that they were also 0-2 in Patriot League play last season before rallying to win five of their last six to earn a postseason berth.

Next up is a home game against Holy Cross next Saturday at 1 p.m.
