SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team opened up play at the Aztec Invitational Saturday with an 11-4 loss to No. 16 UC San Diego. Four different Bison scored in the match.

Shyla Lintz, Emily Konishi, Colleen Barron and Regina Younger each scored a goal in the contest. Konishi was the lone Bison (7-9) to hand out an assist.

Younger led Bucknell with two steals, while Barron and Gigi Rojahn each recorded a swipe.

UC San Diego (9-10) scored the game’s first three goals and led by a 4-0 margin at halftime. The Tritons added four more goals in the third period and three more in the final quarter. Bucknell scored three of its four goals in the third period.

The Bison return to the pool at 2:45 p.m. for a match with Chapman.
