SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Bucknell closed its five-match trip to California with a 7-0 loss to Western New Mexico on Wednesday. The Bison finished 2-3 on the west coast trip.
Western New Mexico, the 24th-ranked team in Division II, improved to 7-5 overall, while Bucknell dropped to 4-13.
“We came out flat with a complete lack of energy and competitiveness,” Bucknell head coach Bruce Myers said. “It wasn’t the perfect way to finish the match portion of our spring break trip. The positive news is that we have two full days of practice before we get back to Lewisburg, and we will certainly use the time and weather to improve.”
Daniel Wright came up just short in a three-set match against No. 14 Liam Fraboulet. Wright won the first set 6-2, but fell 6-3, 10-8 in the next two.
Bucknell is scheduled to play at home for the first time this season when it hosts Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday, March 22, at 3 p.m.
