PRINCETON, N.J. – Sarah Chandler broke her own school record in the steeplechase Friday on the opening day of the ECAC Championships at Princeton's Weaver Stadium. Two Bison earned All-East honors on the first day of competition.
Chandler, an All-Patriot League honoree in the event, was the runner-up with a time of 10:24.71, smashing her previous best of 10:39.30.
Colleen Buckley earned All-East status in the 10,000-meter. The Patriot League champion in the event, Buckley finished seventh with a time of 35:37.38.
Jenna Farmer posted a top-10 Bucknell performance in the 5,000m. Entering with a seed time of 17:15.10, she completed the race in 16:55.18, now sixth-fastest in school annals.
"I thought our ladies were outstanding considering that just six days ago many of them were doing 2-3 races and were still a bit fatigued from those races and final exams," said Patriot League Coach of the Year Kevin Donner. "Chandler had a huge breakout race in the steeple and her time should make NCAA. Buckley finishing seventh was very good despite being fatigued. Now we wait to see if she makes NCAA in the 5k. Farmer had an incredible race just missing out on scoring. Breaking 17 is huge for her and the future. It was good to see Easse finish her career by making the finals in the discus."
The ECAC Championships resume on Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
