QUECHEE, Vt. -- J.P. Raftery carded a 1-over-par 73 to finish at even par for the tournament, leading the Bucknell men's golf team to a sixth-place finish in a strong 14-team field at the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge, hosted by Dartmouth. Raftery finished in a tie for seventh place on the individual leaderboard, as he was one of 10 players in the field of 86 to finish at even par or better over36 holes.

Raftery backed up Saturday's 1-under 71 with another strong performance on Sunday. He birdied holes 5, 9 and 11 and added 11 pars. Raftery was 1-under through 13 holes before backing up a couple with bogeys at 14 and 16.

Raftery finished just two shots out of a first-place tie between Drexel's Aaron Fricke and Princeton's Evan Quinn, who both finished at 2-under 142. Fricke and teammate Angelo Giantsopoulos both closed with 67s as part of the Dragons' final-round 12-under 276. That vaulted them to a one-shot team victory over Princeton.

Harvard, Cornell and Central Connecticut rounded out the top five. Bucknell edged out Rhode Island by three shots and host Dartmouth by four for the No. 6 spot.

Raftery was not the only Bison to shoot 73 on Sunday, as Peter Bradbeer matched that score with a consistent round that featured a birdie, two bogeys and 15 pars.

Jubal Early followed with a 77 and Chris Tanabe with a 79 to leave Bucknell with a final-round 302 team total. Connor O'Brien, who shot 72 in the first round, finished with an 82.

The Bison are back in action next weekend at the Macdonald Cup, hosted by Yale.
