Fayetteville, Ark. – Fourth-ranked Arkansas tallied 12 hits and 15 walks on its way to a 14-2 win over visiting Bucknell in non-conference baseball action Friday at Baum Stadium. The game was the first of a three-game series and was the season opener for both teams.

After allowing 10 runs to come across through the first two frames, Bucknell would settle down and surrender just three runs over the next five innings. Offensively, the Bison came alive to get on the scoreboard in the eighth inning. Mike Korchak and Luke Hartman both each reached base on an error, and both scored on a single to center field by Dominic Toso.

Keifer Rawlings was the only other Bison to produce a hit in the game.

A positive for the Bison was the performance by sophomore Tyler Wincig, who had the best numbers on the night for their pitching staff. He allowed just two runs on two hits and struck out three over 3.1 innings.

On the other end, Razorbacks starter Blaine Knight had quite the game, tossing five innings of hitless and scoreless ball. Kole Ramage threw 1.1 scoreless frames of his own before Toso got the better of him with his two-run single. Arkansas relievers Bryce Bonnin and Barrett Loseke closed out the game by each tossing scoreless innings to seal the win for the Hogs.

Heston Kjerstad, Eric Cole, and Carson Shaddy combined to drive in six runs while going 5-for-11 with a home run and seven runs scored.

Bucknell will play game two of its three-game set at Arkansas Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Eastern. The game will be televised on SEC Network Plus and the WatchESPN app.
