LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head men’s golf coach Michael Binney has announced the addition of three recruits, who will join the Bison for the 2018-19 season. The newcomers are Carter Cook from Cornelius, North Carolina; Dylan Ford from Homewood, Alabama; and Jason Lohwater from Rochester, New York.

All three student-athletes have excelled on both the high school and junior golf circuits, and Binney feels that all three can make an impact on what should be a deep and experienced squad next season.

“I am very excited about the three recruits we have coming in this fall,” said Binney. “Carter, Dylan and Jason represent the very best in our student-athletes. With all three of them achieving a superior level of academic and athletic achievement in their respective high school careers, I expect all three to be impact players when they arrive on campus in August.”

The Bison will return seven of their nine letterman from this past season, including four outstanding rising seniors. Bucknell finished in fifth place at this year’s Patriot League Championship and placed three on the All-Patriot League Team.

Here is more on each of the three newcomers:

Coach Binney on Carter Cook: “I first became acquainted with Carter at the Donald Ross Junior Amateur at Pinehurst several years ago. Carter's father was a former Navy pilot and recognized the helmet bag that I always carry with me when I travel on recruiting trips. We exchanged a short introduction, and I've been following Carter's junior career ever since. Having watched Carter for the last several years as his game has developed, he has turned into an exceptional ball-striker and student of the game. I expect him to be a regular starter as soon as the season starts.”

DYLAN FORD | Homewood, Ala. | Homewood H.S.

Born Nov. 29, 1999 in Altoona, Pa. … son of Matthew and Kimberly Ford … has a younger brother, Jack … competed on the golf team at Homewood High School … posted a .92 JGS scoring differential … played in the 2017 Future Masters, shooting 70-74-78 … placed fourth at the 2016 MJGA Future Tour Championship in Greenville, Miss. (75-71) … shot 74-74-72 at the 2017 Bubba Conlee National Junior in Memphis, Tenn.

Coach Binney on Dylan Ford: “Last summer I traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for the Bubba Conlee Junior Championship and was able to catch some of Dylan's stellar play. He reached out to me, visited the school, and the rest is history. A solid ball-striker playing in the tough Southeast Junior Golf Tour, Dylan has played and excelled against some of the toughest junior golfers in the region, and I expect him to be an immediate impact player here at Bucknell.

JASON LOHWATER | Rochester, N.Y. | Brighton H.S.

Born Oct. 25, 2000 in Rochester … son of Nancy Mazur and Michael Lohwater … two-time First Team All-County selection at Brighton High School … named All-Greater Rochester in 2016 after qualifying for the high school state championship … medalist at the 2017 high school sectionals with a round of 71 … team was sectional runner-up … shot 69-76 to place sixth at the 2017 Williamson Cup at Pittsburgh Field Club … won the 2016 Rochester District Golf Association Junior Championship, surviving five rounds of match play … placed fourth in the event in 2017 … winner of four WNYPGA events (ages 13-15) in 2016, including the Tour Championship with rounds of 73-78 … 2016 WNYPGA Player of the Year … also played two years of varsity basketball in high school.

Coach Binney on Jason Lohwater: “When Jason arrives on campus this August, he will become the tallest Bison golfer on the roster; inching out Peter Bradbeer by 1/2 inch at 6' 5" tall. While that may seem to have little to do with golf, he brings a very relaxed, fluid, and Ernie Els-esque swing with him, which will serve him well as he starts his college debut this fall. I expect "big" things from him as he dons the Orange and Blue.”
