BALTIMORE, Md. -Jack Else equaled his season high with five goals and Mike Kimble added three as the Bucknell center position combined for eight goals, but the Bison men's water polo team completed its league-opening weekend with a 14-12 loss at Johns Hopkins Sunday afternoon. Bucknell is now 6-3, 1-2 CWPA Southern Division.
All three league games this weekend were close as the No. 18 Bison defeated Navy by two goals and lost to George Washington by one on Saturday.
Sunday's contest was close throughout as it was tied after the first quarter. The Blue Jays held a one-goal lead at halftime and through three periods of play before eventually winning by two goals.
In addition to his five goals, Else drew a team-high five ejections.
Senior Stephen Norton came off the bench to have a solid outing, tallying two goals, one assist, one field block and winning a sprint.
Eleven of Bucknell's 12 goals came from seniors with freshman Nate Hunter the only exception.
Goalie Keegan Williams came within one of his career high for saves as he posted 14.
Bucknell will be idle next weekend before continuing road league play Sunday, Oct. 6, at Princeton. Start time for that contest is 1 p.m. at DeNunzio Pool.
