ITHACA, N.Y. -- Thomas Walter's 4-over-par 75 paced the Bucknell men's golf team in the first round of the Cornell Invitational on Saturday. The Bison opened with a 308 team score and sit in ninth place. Second-round play was suspended due to rain after about 12 holes and will be completed prior to the scheduled third and final round on Sunday morning.

John Edler shot 76, D.J. Magee 78, Nick Geissler 79 and Peter Scialabba 80 for the Bison. Walter's 75 puts him in a tie for 13th in the individual standings.

No team was able to break 300 in the cool, wet conditions. Binghamton took the first-round lead with an even 300, paced by a 2-under 69 from Bryce Edmister. Drexel is second at 303, followed by Towson, Dartmouth, Canisius and Cornell all at 305. Colgate (306) and St. Bonaventure (307) are also just ahead of the Bison in a crowded field.

Second-round play is scheduled to resume on Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
