WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Freshman John Edler carded Bucknell's low round of the day with a 73, and the Bison team closed with a 300 team score to finish in sixth place at the Stars & Stripes Invitational at the West Point Golf Gourse on Monday.

Bucknell compiled an 886 team total over 54 holes. Host Army finished with a 286 for a total of 841, and the Black Knights won the tournament by five shots over Loyola Maryland. Lehigh was third at 872, followed by Pacific (875), Columbia (878), Bucknell, UC Santa Barbara (894), Bethune-Cookman (896), Lafayette (938) and Holy Cross (939).

Despite a rainstorm that halted play for about 45 minutes, Edler made 14 pars and four bogeys en route to his 4-over 73 on Monday. His 223 total put him in a tie for 22nd place. Schuyler Stitzer, who posted a 69 in the seconds round, finished 20th at 221 after closing with a 78.

Also for the Bison on Monday, Zach Pogust carded a 74, Thomas Walter shot 75 and Peter Scialabba had a 78.

Army's Marcus Plunkett finished at 2-under for the tournament and was the only player in red figures through 54 holes. Jimmy Dengler of Loyola was runner-up at 1-over.

The Bison will be back in acton next weekend at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate at Mimosa Hills CC in North Carolina.
