PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- A string of bad breaks hampered the Bucknell women's golf team in the final round of Rutgers Invitational on Tuesday. The Bison began the day in third place in the 20-team field, but they slipped to 10th after posting a final-round team score of 329.
A day earlier Bucknell counted four scores in the 70s, but no Bison was able to break 80 on Tuesday. Bridget Wilcox, who had a share of the individual lead after opening with a 1-over 73, carded an 81 in round two. Lauren Bernard also shot 81, while Kasha Scott closed with an 83, Emily Timmons with an 84 and Ellie McGuire with an 89.
Wilcox ended up in a tie for 14th place, her third top-20 finish in four tournaments this fall.
Delaware compiled a 301 team total on Tuesday for a 36-hole score of 603. That was good for a five-shot win over first-round co-leader Seton Hall. St. John's, Long Island and Fairleigh Dickinson rounded out the top five.
Erin McClure of Seton Hall carded her second straight 73 to win the individual title by one shot over Marisol Doglioli of LIU and Amanda Terzian of Delaware.
The Bison have one more fall event remaining. They will be at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island on Oct. 28-29.
