WASHINGTON, D.C.  – The Bucknell women’s swimming and diving team competed in its first scored meet of the 2013-14 season Saturday at George Washington and used a late push to defeat the Colonials 140-122. The Bison (1-0) outscored George Washington by 18 points over the final two events to come away with the win.

The score was tied at 113 entering the final individual event of the meet, the 200 IM. Kristen Purdy, Ashley Henderson and Amber McDonnell proceeded to sweep the top three spots in the race for the Bison, who then led 129-116.

McGoff was the Bison’s top finisher in the 50 free, touching the wall second, while Pontecorvo was second in both the 500 free and 1,000 free.

In addition to sweeping the top three positions in the 200 IM, Bucknell went 1-2-3 in 100 back (Levendoski, Rachel Perry, Jennifer Brennan) and 200 back (Levendoski, Alanna Nawrocki, Jackie Shroyer).
