LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Emma Levendoski won both backstroke events to lead the Bucknell women’s swimming and diving team in a 209-90 loss to Pittsburgh Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison fell to 1-1, while the Panthers improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Levendoski earned Bucknell’s only two individual victories as she won the 100 back by 1.18 seconds over the runner-up and she then claimed the 200 back by 2.02 seconds over the second-place finisher. A two-time Patriot League champion, Levendoski was also part of the third-place 200 medley relay squad and 400 free relay contingent.

Freshman Rachel McGoff (200 free) and senior Kelly Pontecorvo (1,000 free) registered Bucknell’s two second-place showings, while Ashley Henderson (100 back, 200 breast), Kristen Purdy (100 fly), Stephanie Koziol (400 IM) and Pontecorvo (500 free) had third-place finishes.

Junior Katie Hetherington was Bucknell’s top diver off both boards, finishing fourth off the one-meter and third off the three-meter.

Saturday’s meeting was just the second all-time between the Bison and Panthers. The only other time they faced each other was 1975-76.

Bucknell will next be in action Nov. 9 when it hosts Patriot League foes American, Lafayette and Navy in a quad meet at Kinney Natatorium. Start time is noon.
