BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Ashley Henderson, Emma Levendoski, Amber McDonnell and Kelly Pontecorvo each won two swimming events Saturday afternoon at Jacobs Pool to lead the Bucknell women’s swimming and diving team to a 172-122 win at Lehigh. The victory pushed the Bison record to 8-2 this season, including an unblemished 6-0 against Patriot League opponents.
Levendoski swept the backstroke events for the eighth time this season and in the process set a pool record in the 100 back, touching the wall in 57.32 seconds. She was 1.85 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Lehigh (6-2, 3-2 PL). Levendoski won the 200 back by 1.91 seconds and was also part of the second-place 200 medley relay with Henderson, Kristen Purdy and Kaitlyn Utkewicz.
Henderson’s wins came in the 100 and 200 breast events. It was her second sweep of those events this season, having also accomplished the feat last week at Army.
McDonnell won the 200 fly and 200 IM, leading a 1-2-3 Bison sweep in the 200 IM. Purdy, who won the 100 fly, was second, with Diana Hanson third.
Pontecorvo finished first in the 500 and 1,000 free, her seventh win this year in the 500 and her sixth in the 1,000.
Rachel McGoff (3rd in 100 free, 4th in 200 free) and Utkewicz (3rd in 50 free) were Bucknell’s top finishers in the other individual events, while Lauren Perry, McGoff, Stephanie Koziol and Utkewicz concluded the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay.
The Bison will wrap up the regular season next Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Navy Invite. Start time for the meet is 12 p.m. in Annapolis, Md.
