DOVER, Del.  – With a strong wind blowing in at Wesley College’s Bob Reed Field, the Bucknell baseball team lost a heartbreaker to Delaware State Saturday afternoon. The Bison lost by a 1-0 score in 10 innings after being no-hit during regulation play.

Bucknell (0-4) had a chance to take an early lead when it loaded the bases in the first inning, but the Hornets were able to turn a double play and get a line out to get out of the inning.

The score remained 0-0 until Delaware State (1-1) plated the winning run in the 10th.

“Sometimes baseball can be unfair,” mentioned Bucknell second-year head coach Scott Heather. “We hit the ball hard today, but had nothing to show for it and they were able to push one across with two infield hits and a sac fly. I was real pleased to see Bryson (Hough) and Dan throw the ball well and give us a chance to win. Tomorrow is a new day and the hits will begin to fall for us.”

The Bison wrap up their weekend with a 10:30 a.m. contest Sunday against Iona at Bob Reed Field.
