LEWISBURG, Pa.  – The Villanova women’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and turned that into a 10-4 victory over Bucknell Saturday afternoon at Graham Field. The Bison, who were led by Katelyn Miller’s two goals, fell to 0-4, while the Wildcats improved to 2-1.

Villanova scored the game’s first five goals and led by six goals on four different occasions as the teams alternated goals over the final 10:27 of play.

Miller, who ranks second on the Bison with four goals this season, got Bucknell on the board with 21:26 to play in the second half to cut into a 5-0 deficit. Madison Molinari (7:17) and Emily Kookogey (3:53) scored on free positions shots in the final 10 minutes of play, while Miller closed out the Bucknell scoring with 2:19 to play on an unassisted score.

Villanova, which was led by three goals off the bench by Meghan Breen, outshot the Bison 31-16 and picked up 31 of the game’s 45 ground balls. Starters Shannon Galvin and Kelsey Denihan added two goals apiece.

Seven of the game’s 14 goals were scored on free position shots, including six in a row at one point in the second half.
