LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Triple Crown-winning Bucknell women’s track and field team received All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA), announced on Friday. In addition, Christine Bendzinski, Colleen Buckley, Sarah Chandler, Kate Scott and Rebecca Skovira represented the Bison on the organization’s individual All-Academic Team.

In order for a team to earn the honor, the squad must post an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The Patriot League champs did just that, posting a 3.34 GPA during the spring semester. The Bison were one of four Patriot League institutions to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition.

For an individual to qualify for All-Academic accolades, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

Bendzinski earns USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for a second consecutive year. A cell biology and biochemistry major, she is a six-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District Team selection. The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the indoor and outdoor seasons, Bendzinski enjoyed a strong outdoor campaign, earning All-Patriot League status in two events while qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet for the second straight season.

Buckley earns All-Academic accolades after landing a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for the first time in her career. A two-year Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, Buckley had a solid showing in the spring, winning the 10,000-meter at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships while earning all-league status in the 5,000m. Buckley also received All-East recognition en route to competing at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet.

Chandler, a psychology major, earns her second USTFCCCA All-Academic citation. A four-year Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, the 2017 graduate earned All-Patriot League honors in two events, including First Team recognition in the 4x800m relay. Chandler set the school record in the steeplechase at the ECAC Championships, qualifying her for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet for the first time in her career.

Scott receives All-Academic honors for the third time in her career. A history major, Scott is a three-year Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member. Scott capped off her Bison career with a second consecutive trip to the NCAA regional meet, while earning All-Patriot League accolades in the 10,000m.

Skovira, a mechanical engineering major, earns USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades for the first time after concluding her Bison tenure on a very high note. Skovira won the gold medal in the javelin at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, qualifying her for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet.
