LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell wrapped up a 2-0 weekend with a 4-2 win over visiting Quinnipiac in a non-conference field hockey game Sunday at Graham Field. Brittany Willwerth, Stephanie Dressler, Marisa Morakis, and Claire Lesher all scored to help the Bison improve to 5-7 on the season.
Quinnipiac scored just 4:08 into the game, but Bucknell responded with four straight goals. The first came less than two minutes after the Bobcats’ score. Willwerth finished for her team-leading seventh goal of the season off a pass from Morakis.
The Bison scored two more times to take a 3-1 lead at the half. Stephanie Dressler tallied her third goal of the year on a penalty corner in the 17th minute. Morakis and M.C. Evans registered assists on the play. Morakis scored her second goal of the season in the 20th minute, with Quick and Willwerth notching assists.
The offense slowed down slightly in the second half until Claire Lesher tacked on an insurance goal for Bucknell. Her first score of the season came off a rebound in front of the goal and put the Bison up 4-1 with 18 minutes to play.
Lesher is the 14th different Bucknell player to score this season. Seventy percent of the Bison’s players to see the field, excluding goalies, have scored at least once.
Emily Finn made three saves to pick up the win for the Bison. Livy Golini made six saves in a losing effort.
Michelle Federico scored both goals for Quinnipiac, which dropped to 3-9 overall. The second finished the scoring with 3:30 left in regulation.
Bucknell improved to 4-2 at Graham Field this season. The Bison are 30-16 at home over the past six seasons.
The Bison will look to add to that impressive home success when it hosts a Patriot League matchup with Colgate on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Raiders are 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the Patriot League.
