LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Payton Capes has been named the M-F Athletic Patriot League Rookie of the Week after a solid performance at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday.
Capes finished third out of 181 runners in the 4k race at Dickinson, crossing the finish line in 14:39. She was the top individual runner for the Bison, who finished third out of 17 runners at the event.
Capes was named the league’s top rookie for the first time this season. She has competed in three of the Bison’s four events.
Bucknell continues to rack up weekly awards. The Bison have earned three Runner of the Week honors, all won by senior Christine Bendzinski, and have received three Rookie of the Week awards. Tiara Tardy was named the league’s top rookie after the Bison Open, while Ashley Blair won the award after the Panorama Farms Invitational.
Some Bison runners will next run at the Penn State National Open on Friday, Oct. 13, while others will compete at Lafayette’s Leopard Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.
