LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell scored three times in the first 22 minutes in Saturday's home win over Army West Point, and two of the catalysts of that early scoring burst received honors on Monday. Freshman Brianna Kropinack, who scored the first goal and assisted on the second, was named the Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week, while senior Kendall Ham was picked as the Bison Athlete of the Week after her two-goal performance against the Black Knights.
Just 9:43 into the contest, Kropinack put the Bison on the board with a volley into the top-left corner after Army had initially headed away a corner kick. Just over three minutes later, Kropinack found Ham at the top of the box, and the Bison All-American ripped a left-footed shot into the same spot for a 2-0 lead. Ham then made it 3-0 at the 22:03 mark, finishing from close range after a pretty build-up.
Bucknell has now claimed three Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors this season, with Kropinack earning the honor twice and Alexandra Catanzarite once. Kropinack now has three goals on the season, second on the team only to Ham's five. Ham also has three assists for a team-high 13 points, and she ranks fourth in the Patriot League in both goals and points.
With her 34 career goals, Ham moved into a tie for fourth place with Krista Lee Gentile on Bucknell’s all-time list. She also became the fifth Bison ever to record 80 career points.
The 3-0 win over Army moved Bucknell to 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the Patriot League. The Bison have outscored opponents 14-0 in league play and are tied with Navy at the top of the standings with 15 points. Next up is a trip to Colgate on Saturday at 7 p.m.
