LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell sophomore midfielder Nick King was named to the 11-man Academic All-Patriot League men's soccer team on Wednesday. King is a biomedical engineering major with a 3.53 cumulative grade-point average, and he finished the 2017 season as Bucknell's second-leading scorer with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
The Mattawan, Michigan native is a Dean's List student who is an aspiring leader in the Bucknell Athletics Leadership Institute. He has been a Third Team All-Patriot League selection in each of his first two seasons with the Bison men's soccer squad. This season he started every game and scored goals against Colgate, Fairleigh Dickinson, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Robert Morris. He also logged assists in back-to-back Patriot League victories over Loyola and American. King now has eight goals and nine assists for 25 points in his career.
Bucknell's season came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Colgate in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Emmitt Field. The young Bison squad finished 7-8-4 overall and 5-3-1 in the Patriot League, and they earned the No. 3 seed in the PL Tournament despite being picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll.
