Lewisburg, Pa.- Bucknell junior Isabella Bjorkeson placed in the top five in all five events Friday night to win the pentathlon following the first day of competition at the season-opening Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Bjorkeson accumulated 3,222 total points, ranking her ninth all-time in Bucknell history and shattering her previous record from last year when she scored 3,205 points. Alexis Auman came in second with 3,032 points, and rounding out the 1-2-3 finish in third place was Harper Stewart with 3,022 points.

Bjorkeson had the night’s top marks in the 60-meter hurdles (9.33), was third in the high jump (5-1 ¾), second in the shot put (9.13m), second in long jump (5.13m) and fifth in the 800 meter (2:36.53), while her teammates Alexis Auman & Harper Stewart finished first and third respectively in the long jump. Auman pulled off a (5.32M) jump and Stewart put up a (5.06M) jump.

"I thought our three ladies in the pentathlon did a fantastic job and to open up the season with all three over 3,000 points and finishing 1-2-3 in the meet is a great start. Looks like we will have nice depth in that event. Now we just have to keep them healthy," head coach Kevin Donner said.

Action resumes with the completion of the men's heptathlon on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The field events will begin at 11 a.m., and the running events get underway at 1 p.m.
