EASTON, Pa. – Bucknell women’s tennis got back on track with a 7-0 shutout over Wagner on Saturday at the Northwood Racquet Club. Eight Bison players had a win in either singles or doubles on the day.

The Bison improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Seahawks fell to 3-2.

"This result confirmed for me that we are in a much different place as a team this year," Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said. "We lost a tough 4-3 match to Wagner last year that we felt we should have dominated. This year we did. Our mentality is just stronger."

Four Bucknell players improved to 4-1 this spring, with all of their wins coming in Bison victories. Senior Lisa Jouravleva, who figures to vie for Patriot League Player of the Year honors this season with her spot at the top of the team’s lineup, was one of them as she rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 triumph on court one.

Bucknell’s four players at 4-1 on the season includes players from all four classes. Junior Mishi Papich was a 6-0, 6-1 winner on court three, sophomore Paige Leavy prevailed 6-3, 6-2 on court two, and freshman Schuyler La Barge recorded a 6-2, 7-6 victory on court five.

A pair of freshmen added wins in singles. Cayla Koch posted her first career dual win by 6-2, 6-2 scores on court four, while Sofia Ayuso upped her record to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 decision on court six.

In doubles, junior Danielle Gannon and sophomore Jill Auteri pulled out a thrilling 7-6 win on court three to help the Bison get the sweep.

Also posting doubles wins for Bucknell were Jouravleva and Leavy 6-2 on court one, and Koch and Papich 6-1 on court two.

The Bison will play Saint Francis in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Feb. 16, and against Youngstown State in Boardman, Ohio, on Saturday, Feb. 17.
