LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women’s basketball is headed to a national postseason tournament for a third consecutive season. With American’s win over Navy in the Patriot League title game on Sunday, the Bison received the league’s automatic bid to the WNIT. The Bison played in the WNIT in 2016 and the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

The bid to the WNIT was just one piece of good news for Bucknell on Sunday. It was also announced that junior Kate Walker was voted to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team. The Bison have had four players earn All-Tournament honors over the last three seasons.

Bucknell received the automatic bid after placing second in the Patriot League regular season standings with a record of 15-3. The Bison will enter the WNIT with an overall record of 22-9.

The Bison competed in the WNIT two seasons ago and posted the first ever victory by a Patriot League team in the tournament. They went on the road to play Akron, where they posted a 74-70 victory, before falling at Michigan in the second round.

Bucknell will make its fifth combined NCAA Tournament and WNIT appearance. Three have come during Aaron Roussell’s six seasons as head coach.

The WNIT bracket will be released late Monday night following the release of the NCAA Tournament bracket.

Walker earned her spot on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in two games. She scored 13 points in a win over Holy Cross in the quarterfinal round, and followed that by matching her career highs in both points (25) and rebounds (9) against Navy in the semifinal round.
