TAMPERE, Finland – Bucknell’s Maura Fiamoncini wrapped up competition at the IAAF U20 World Championships early Monday morning and finished just two spots outside of the group that qualified for the final round.

Fiamoncini finished 14th out of 24 participants with a top throw of 160-5, which came on the first of her three attempts. The top 12 throwers from the two qualifying groups advanced to the final round.

Fiamoncini was one of two competitors from the United States in the event after qualifying with a runner-up finish at the USATF Junior Championships in June.

That concludes a fantastic rookie season at Bucknell for Fiamoncini. She broke the school record in her first career meet before going on to win a Patriot League title and Third Team All-America status at the NCAA Championships.
