LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell sophomore Emma Levendoski (Mandeville, La./Mandeville) on Monday was named the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season. The two-time Patriot League champion swept the backstroke events to help lead the Bison to a 176-121 victory at Colgate this past Saturday.

Levendoski, who previously was named PL Female Swimmer of the Week Oct. 28 and Nov. 25, swept the backstroke races for the sixth time in six meets this season. She won the 100 back in 57.61, .95 ahead of the runner-up, and the 200 back in 2:02.80, 3.14 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

The school record holder in both backstroke events, Levendoski has swept the backstroke races in nine straight meets dating back to last year and in 36 career backstroke competitions has finished first 26 times and second nine times.

Levendoski was also past of the winning 200 medley relay, swimming the first leg. She also swam the first leg of the 400 free relay that posted the second-best time in the field.

Thanks in part to Levendoski’s season-long performance, Bucknell is off to a 5-1 start this year. The Bison defeated Colgate for the first time since 2004-05. Last month, Bucknell defeated another Patriot League rival, Navy, for the first time since 2005-06.

The Bison are idle from dual meet competition until Saturday, Jan. 4, when they host Rutgers at 1 p.m. in Kinney Natatorium.
