LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell swimming and diving program was recently honored for its high academic achievement by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Bison were named a CSCAA Scholar All-American Team as both the men’s and women’s squads posted grade-point averages above 3.0 in the spring semester of 2014.
The Bucknell women ranked 49th nationally in GPA with a 3.40, while the men posted a strong 3.15 GPA to rank 43rd in the country. A total of 139 women’s teams were recognized. Seventy-one men’s programs were cited with GPAs above 3.0.
The Bison were one of five Patriot League schools to have both their men’s and women’s teams honored, joining American, Boston U., Lafayette and Loyola (Md.).
Bucknell experienced plenty of success in the pool in addition to the classroom this past season. The women finished in second place at the Patriot League Championships and posted their most dual-meet victories since 1997-98, while the men placed fourth at the Patriot League Championships and were 7-3 against a strong regular-season schedule.
