LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team had six student-athletes earn All-Academic Awards from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, it was announced this week. Additionally, the Bison ranked 14th nationally among water polo teams in cumulative team grade-point average with a combined 3.22.
Approximately 350 student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.20 to 3.40 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.70 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 GPA (Outstanding). Bucknell had five players recognized in the Superior category and one on the Excellent ledger.
Three of the Bison honorees – Samantha Deana, Mackenzie Ferry and Julianne Valdes – were seniors in 2014. Three of the Bucknell players honored – Sayeh Bozorghadad, Katherine DeRuff and Eleanor Marrs – will return to Kinney Natatorium in 2015.
In the pool, the Bison posted a 13-14 record this past season. Bucknell faced nine ranked foes and finished in sixth place at the Eastern Championship.
