LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Maya Martignetti headlined a group of 10 Bucknell women’s rowers who were honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) this week. She was one of 10 Bison to be named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete and was also named to the CRCA All-Region 2 First Team.
Joining Martignetti on the National Scholar-Athlete list were Kendall Balasiano, Bethany Bechtel, Charlotte Brace, Erin Clark, Angelina Heyse, Amanda McCabe, Sierra McCarron, Sarah Shochat and Elizabeth Wilkey. This is the third straight year Brace has been a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, while Wilkey is now a two-time honoree. The other Bison earned their first career academic recognition from the CRCA.
In order to be named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average and be at least a sophomore. Bucknell’s 10 honorees marked its most since 2013.
Martignetti earned her second consecutive CRCA All-Region selection, moving up from a second-team citation a year ago. She was a four-time Patriot League participant and rowed in the six seat of the Bison varsity eight that finished in fourth place at this year’s conference championship.
Seven of Bucknell’s 10 CRCA honorees were seniors. Only Bechtel and Clark, sophomores in 2016, and Wilkey, a junior, will return to the squad in 2016-17.
